No one is born a Christian; It is not an inheritance, transmitted or won. Instead, the Bible says, “If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. (Injil, Romans 10: 9)

As part of my job, from time to time I travel by air. Of course, I think an airplane can go from one place to another; But when I personally take the plane I trust the plane, the pilots and the crew. I trust that they know what they are doing and that they will fly the plane (and me) safely to where I want to go. Believing in Jesus is similar. Becoming a Christian means putting your full trust in God to forgive you, save you personally and transform you by faith in Jesus.

In faith, there are steps to reach peace with God:

First, be honest with God. It is an invitation to be honest with ourselves, to see ourselves before God as we really are: rebels, sinners, spiritually dead. Confess that you rebelled against God and that you did not give him the right place in your life. The Bible says, “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us, and to cleanse us from all iniquity. (Injil, 1 John 1: 8-9)

Secondly, believe in your heart that Jesus died on the cross to pay all your sins. His death on the cross was not a mistake; It was planned for us. What Jesus has accomplished is sufficient to reconcile us with God.

Third, repent. That is, turn around and instead of living your own life, begin to live God’ way. God gives us the Holy Spirit to help us change. We cannot change by our own strength. But Almighty God transforms us from within by his Spirit.

Fourthly, ask God to forgive you, and trust in him. Speak to God right now in sincere prayer. Isaac Newton, the great scientist, said: “I can take my telescope and look millions of miles in space. However, I can go to my room, and by prayer get closer to God and heaven – the experience that all the telescopes in the world together cannot give me.”

The Bible promises: “Whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. (Injil, Romans 10:13) Open your heart to him. Ask God to wash away all your sins by the blood Jesus poured on the cross and immediately and humbly show him your gratitude, for you can be sure of God’s forgiveness: “Everyone who believes His name receives the forgiveness of sins. (Acts 10:43)

One day, a few years ago, tired of finding God so distant and my heart so troubled, to see sin so powerful and evil in my life, I prayed in this way:

“Lord God, I confess that I am a sinner. Jesus took upon Himself the punishment I deserve, he died for my sins; I believe that he has risen again, that he has conquered death. I repent today of all my sins and trust in Jesus alone for my salvation and I thank you for forgiving me and for welcoming me. O Jesus Christ, my Savior, become my Lord, I want to live for you in your strength. Amen! ”

May God grant that you, too, may express your personal prayer today. A new life will begin … “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things are past; Behold, all things have become new. (2 Corinthians 5:17)

This is only the beginning!

A man’s salvation is not an end in itself or a reward for being good. It is a beginning; the beginning of the knowledge of the living God. God does not save you to leave you as you are, he has a purpose for your life, that of revealing himself to you more every day so that your knowledge is evidenced by your victory over sin and the transformation of your heart. In this way, it will overflow with love and move  you to good. It is by following Christ that you will transform yourself. Just as a chameleon changes to the color of its environment, so your heart will put on the love of God as you discover the living God. However, you must be willing to seek a greater knowledge of God through Jesus Christ. God has left you three helpers that it is wise to use.
